Welcome!
We are an organization coming together for a positive social and cultural exchange. We are a non-profit and non-political organization. Please consider this and respect these terms of service on our various forums.
Our
The Kansas City Cherokee Community (KCCC) is dedicated to Cherokee history, culture, heritage, tradition, and fellowship. We are a non-political, non-profit Native American organization whose members reside outside the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation. We have come together based on our shared history and heritage, and out of an interest in the continuation of and a love for the Cherokee People and Nations. It is critically important that we find innovative ways to retain Cherokee people in stronger ties of culture and responsible citizenship. We believe the concept of new “towns” is one way to achieve this goal.

My Cherokee blood is by virtue of descending from John and Katie Ward
through three of their children. Living the first ten years of my
life (which began in 1940) in Oklahoma, my assumption was that everyone
in the world was aware of their aboriginal origins; I was later
dismayed to learn that some were not fortunate to appreciate the special
feeling of being connected to the earth as were the people in
pre-development times. It is important that those of us who are
proud of our Cherokee family be together and attempt to ease the lives
of our own and other less fortunate people in this area, as well as
maintain a correspondence with our national organization. My
experience in education, scouting, service clubs and personal interest
groups has allowed me to serve in every possible office of those
organizations. It has always been my approach to keep projects
moving along with good sense and as little stress as possible to achieve
a successful conclusion. I would be pleased to serve on the board.
