Cherokee Community (KCCC) Board of Directors meeting will be on October, 19th 2024 at 2:15 pm at University of Kansas, Forum D in the Burge Union, 1656 Irving Hill Rd, Lawrence, KS 66406
Meetings are open to the public and the KCCC membership is encouraged to attend.

Osiyo KCCC Members,
It’s time once again to nominate candidates for the Kansas City Cherokee Community (KCCC) Board of Directors. The KCCC Board of Directors is made up of seven positions, serving two year terms. Reelection is permitted without limit. These are volunteers with no remuneration. We are fortunate to have a full board willing to serve another term if the membership chooses to reelect them.
We are now accepting nominations for individuals interested in serving a two-year term from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026.
Nominee Requirements:
1. Must be a citizen of the Cherokee Nation
2. Must be current on membership dues and in good standing with KCCC
Nominees will receive an email request to submit a headshot and a bio on :
1) background
2) knowledge of, and involvement in KCCC
3) their perspective on KCCC goals
Board Member Responsibilities (Outline):
*Attend at least 75% of monthly board meetings -
*Volunteer at membership meetings (a minimum of eight are scheduled annually)
*Be able to read, comprehend, and abide by the KCCC bylaws.

Verbal nominations will also be accepted during our next board meeting on October 19, 2024, at 2:15 PM CT at the KU Campus, Forum D in the Burge Union, 1656 Irving Hill Rd, Lawrence, KS 66046.
The deadline for nominations is November 11, 2024, at 12:01 AM.
The KCCC election will be held on November 16, 2024, at Independence First United Methodist Church, 400 W Maple, Independence, MO 64050.

The Kansas City Cherokee Community was awarded the Cherokee Language Perpetuation Award for At-Large Communities from the Cherokee Nation. The award was received at the Cherokee Nation Leadership Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma in June 2024.

KCCC BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATIONS
Osiyo KCCC members. Once again, the time has come to nominate members who wish to serve on the KCCC Board of Directors. For the first time in years, we have a full board seated. At this time, we are accepting nominations to serve a two-year term which will commence January 1, 2023, until December 31, 2025.
Nominees must: 1) be a Cherokee Nation citizen and 2) be up to date on membership dues and in good standing with KCCC. Nominations should be sent to kansascitycherokeecommunity@gmail.com or to Kansas City Cherokee Community, PO Box 481222, Kansas City, MO 64148-1222. Nominations may also be made verbally during the monthly online KCCC board meetings. The next board meetings are September 8th, 2022 and October 13th, 2022 at 5:30pm CT. If you wish to attend the board meetings, please email kansascitycherokeecommunity@gmail.com for the Zoom link. All nominations are due by and no later than October 17th at 12:01am.
The election will be held October 22, 2022, in Lawrence, KS at the Lawrence Indian United Methodist Church, 950 E 21st St, Lawrence, KS 66046.
If there are no nominations from the members, the current KCCC Board of Directors has agreed to serve for the next 2-year term, with member approval. You can notify KCCC Board of Directors for approval of the current board or nominations with responses to this posting. If nominations are made, we will proceed with an election under current KCCC Bylaws. If no nominations are made, the current Board will continue to serve & this notice will serve as the election.
